Coming Soon: The Advanced Class Materials

Softwarebox_thumb
Over the last four years that I've taught my beginner's classes, I am frequently asked questions about more advanced materials.  And as our customers get more savvy with their cameras and master the beginner's materials, they are going to want to know MORE about how they can have more control over the images they are taking.  Today's DSLR cameras come fully loaded with features once reserved for professional cameras and using those features may be overhwhelming to a novice.

Available on April 7th, the second product in our training program, the Advanced Training materials were developed based on advanced training I provided to my own customers.  From the one-on-one training where their questions would drive the material, to follow up classes or advanced groups that wanted to know more about their cameras, this class dives deeper into the technical aspect of a camera.  Not for everyone, but for those customers who really want to gain more control of their photos, this class will help get them there.

Photographer's Training: Review

I'm loving hearing back from folks that purchased the Photographer's Kick Start: Training module and are getting their own training programs setup.  Earlier this week I heard from Amanda who shared her thoughts on the materials:

I am excited to teach my first class using the Photographer's Kick Start materials.  I am an art teacher by training (I have a BA in art education) so teaching is something that comes naturally to me.  I loved the idea of teaching photography to other mom's, but taking the time to put together all the materials needed to teach a course was not where I wanted to spend my time (I really want to spend my time focusing on building up my studio's business).  When I found out about the Photographer's Kick Start I was super jazzed because Jessica did all the hard work for me.  All the work I didn't want to do, so now I can just get to what I really want to do.  That's sharing the gift of photography with other moms.  Thanks Jessica for making such a great product that is completely customizable.  You Rock!   -Mr. Drew Photography, Boston MA

And how cute is their site?  He likes green, she likes pink and they put it together for their site.  He also likes handlebar mustaches.  Fun!

PS.  They have cool music on their site.  I usually mute my speakers but I left them on because I liked the music.

Training Customer Testimonial: Allison Bos Photography

Yesterday I got the sweetest email from Allison regarding the Photographer's Kick Start: Training module that she purchased to help get her started in offering a beginner's photography class to her customers.  Before the product was released Allison had emailed me to ask me about purchasing early since she was going to be out of the country on vacation during the release...but then she was able to purchase during her vacation and downloaded it at an internet cafe so she could start customizing it on her vacation: that's dedication.  Here's her email from yesterday:

I just wanted to say thank you again for developing this awesome program! I have my first class in 4 hours and I couldn't be more excited - wish me luck!!! Also thank you for having the directory of photographers offering this class - I have had 2 of my 6 students find me through your site. Having your ratings and my city name has me at the top of the page and my classes are googleable even though my new site promoting the class isn't even on the first page. My next "to do" after I have finished this class is to read the SEO book to get my site on the first page. I'll let you know how the class goes. Thanks again! -Allison

Allison took it to the next level by creating a sub-section of her photography website to feature her photography classes.  Way to go Allison!!

  Training Module

What is it?

There has been a trend in photography studios to start offering beginner's photography classes to the moms that are also their clients.  This is a great way to generate revenue and build a better relationship with your clients. Some of my best clients have also taken my class.  I know it can be overwhelming to know where to begin when it comes to setting up a training program and that's where the Photographer's Kick Start: Training comes in.  This digital product provides you with a solid foundation to start your own training program to offer beginner's photography classes to moms in your market.  The materials can be customized to meet the needs of your clients and to coordinate with your branding.  If you've ever stared at a blank computer screen trying to write something from scratch, you'll know that it is easier to edit something that already exists.  And the materials have been updated based on the feedback we received from the group that purchased during our April pre-release sale.

Photographers Directory

Photographers Directory

As part of our pre-release, we offered the option to be included in our Photographers Directory on our I Want to Shoot My Kids website.  We've had a few of the photographers send in the information to be included in the directory so we were able to set it up.  The directory is linked to from the splash screen of the I Want to Shoot My Kids website, and from within the main navigation of the website.  Inclusion in the directory will help moms looking for a photography class find you, and will also help with your search engine ranking!

We'll be including a free one year listing on our directory to any photographer that purchases the training module on the first day of the release, May 21st!

Photographer's Kick Start: Training samples

I've been teaching this beginner's photography class for over 3 years now and after teaching it for so long I knew what the sticking points were for moms.  So I re-designed the entire program to include more samples, created diagrams, and even added in a little animation to help provide a better understanding of photography basics to moms!   My goal at the end of the class is that the moms will have a better understanding of exposure and the basic modes of their cameras so they can make better choices when they are out taking pictures.  I don't expect them to be a pro after 3 hours (remember how long it took you to really "get" it all!).

Here's a peek into the new slides created for The Photographer's Kick Start: Training module.  The class materials are broken up into roughly 3 one-hour segments so there are defined break times.

Slidepeek

I knew that just offering the slide was not enough.  So much of the class is what is not on the slides...the stories I tell and even some of the jokes.  I may be comfortable getting up in front a group of strangers to talk but that doesn't mean you are.  So to help give you some guidance and some ideas for what to cover I also went through and wrote detailed speaking notes for the slides.  These speaker notes include not only the basic info for the materials...but also my stories and jokes which you may choose to use to add a little life to your class!  And the slides and speaker notes are included in a PDF file that you can easily print and review - maybe even jot down a few ideas of your own.

Trainingguide

I encourage you to use these materials as a starting point.  It is MUCH easier to modify something to work for you than to start over from scratch.  But I also know that if you make the materials personal to you, you will be more passionate about what you are teaching and your students will recognize that!

Don't forget, the pre-release version of the training materials is available for today only at the special price of $199 AND includes the full text of the Photographer's SEO Book.  Read more about what is included and purchase here...

About Us

  • Jessica Grieves
I started my portrait photography business, Bubblegum Tree Photography, in August 2006 in Houston TX. My background is in web development, project management, and technical training so those aspects of my photography business are especially interesting to me. I started teaching photography classes to moms in 2008 after being asked time and again by my customers how to use their cameras. I've kept an online journal about my experiences building my photography business at Hey Girl, Nice Shot. I'm the photography writer for Houston Mama, and I've written numerous guest posts and spoken at photographer's workshops to share some of the things I've learned.
